Youth Engagement

At Gather to Grow we believe young people are partners in change.

Young people in Gather to Grow programs explore nature, food, culture, and community through hands-on experiences that help them develop a strong sense of self, build relationships with peers, find footholds in the community, and grow the skills necessary to live fully and make a difference.

Our Summer Youth Gardener Program provides opportunities for young people to develop their voices within their community as they explore urban and school gardens and kitchens. Job skills training happens in the field as youth provide a crucial service to the community—making good food more available.

Check back in soon for summer application!

Gather to find joy.

Coming to the nutrition center felt extremely welcoming and joyful. The students expressed it being a bright spot in their week. It was also so heartwarming to have students excited to bring back food so they could share and talk about their experience at school.”

It Takes A Village

At Gather to Grow we also know that it takes a village to support youth development, and we value our partnerships with schools and youth-serving agencies across Lewiston-Auburn. We would love to host you and your group of young people at our Community Kitchen, Food Pantry, and Community Gardens for a field trip/site visit, one-time workshop, volunteer experience, and/or an ongoing educational series.
