Get Involved
At Gather to Grow, relationships are at the heart of who we are and what we do. We come together with our community in multiple ways to carry forward our work and create community change. We’d love to have you join us!
Volunteer
Volunteers are essential to everything we do—from getting nutritious food into the hands of our neighbors, to preparing our gardens for the growing season. Our regular volunteers often find a sense of purpose, belonging, and fulfillment while gaining experience in community service and programming.
If you’re interested in volunteering, take a moment to explore our current opportunities and fill out a volunteer application below. Once we hear from you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If you don’t hear from us or have further questions feel free to email at info@gathertogrowmaine.org.

Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals
Community Gardens: Our community garden team depends on volunteers to help prepare and close down 12 garden sites and nearly 200 garden plots each spring and fall. If you enjoy digging in the dirt, working with plants, and connecting with people, this is a great role for you.
Food Pantry Support: Each week, our food pantry team unloads and distributes an average of 12,000 pounds of food to nearly 500 households. Volunteers assist with unloading, sorting, shelving, and helping during open pantry hours. If you thrive in a team environment and enjoy working with our diverse community, you’ll find this role especially rewarding.
Community Meals: About once a month, Gather to Grow hosts a shared community meal where neighbors come together over delicious and different culturally significant foods. Volunteers can help with meal prep, setting up the space, and cleanup afterward.
Building Support and Projects: Our main facility is a nearly 130-year-old school building—and there’s always something to do! From cleaning and organizing to repairs and small building projects, volunteers help keep our space welcoming and functional.

Fellowship Opportunities
Gather to Grow offers seasonal fellowship opportunities for students and young adults interested in learning, leading, and building job readiness skills—while deepening their relationship with the Lewiston-Auburn community. Fellows play a vital role in supporting our mission: helping cultivate gardens, distributing fresh and healthy food, and engaging youth through hands-on programs.
Fellows typically contribute across multiple programs with a focus in one or more areas. We aim to align each fellowship experience with our organizational needs and the fellow’s own interests and goals.
Interested in a seasonal fellowship? Reach out to us directly to learn about current opportunities.
